My goal is to entertain my readers, so I want the best book possible.

I recently finished the self-edits for my upcoming novel, The Chameleon Killer. It was a joyous day in our house.

On January 4th, 2025, Noreen Ann (Whitters) Mendes passed away.

As I pulled up, the scene was horrific. A man was hanging from an I-15 freeway overpass. He was swinging in the breeze.

I envision a day soon when I will spend the morning writing and the afternoon baking. That would be serendipitous.

I can sum up my retirement in one word: delightful.

Working in the fictional world is delightful. I work on the novels on weekdays only.

I do the bulk of my writing Monday through Thursday. I perform tangential tasks for the book on Friday and take the weekends off.

"I am amazed at the courage you showed today," an older man said. "Detective, you are blushing," a young woman said."

These two called him all the names that criminals give to the police.

“Yes, But today’s cameras are pervasive. Walk anywhere in this city, and they take your picture on every other block.”

When we fly to the East Coast, it is a sea of green. When we fly back to the West Coast, all we see is brown—two very different places.

“First-degree murder with remand. This guy will be in prison until his trial, and I hope for 25 more years.”

No path is wrong. Let the students decide. Their chances for success grow higher if they are doing something they love.

“Happiness and relief. I feel so lucky. I have a nice family now, and I no longer need to worry about the evil foster parents.”
